It's actually better to watch a movie with other people, at the same time. It's a psychological effect.
For example, Ame/Gura watching Die Hard. I'v seen that movie a bunch of times, though it's been years since I last saw it. Yet I joined in on that fun to get a feel on how others (especially younger folks and first timers) would react to it. Good stuff.
