If you have an idea, or a goal you set for yourself, it's super fun exploring, gathering materials, planning, and building for the thing you want to make. Doubly so if you have friends to work together for the goal.
But if you don't really have a goal for the day, or some idea, then yeah, it can be boring since minecraft doesn't really hold your hand or tell you what to do to have fun.
