She feigned a persona to create a parasocial connection with people because she knew that it's an easy path to grow and it's a demographic that punches way over their weight in donations. But the persona that made those people go "she's just like me frfr" didn't exist, it was a haphazardly constructed web of lies. She's literally a "loverboy method" scammer in a mass scale.
Other vtubers leave everything ambiguous or come clean, or eschew that kind of content entirely exactly to avoid this issue. She chose this content because she knew it paid very well. And she lied purposefully, because doing otherwise would kneecap her growth. No more, no less.
