I finished rewatching through V最協 1. Some general thoughts: I almost forgot about Rev meta. Basically every team was Wraith/Rev and Gib or Caustic. Lots of Portal+Totem pushes. A couple Cryptos and Paths. It was nice to see older World's Edge again, with stuff like Train Yard, Sorting Factory, Refinery. Pakael and Gorilla's teams were the highlight for sure and dominated, with some interesting plays also by KCK and GG.
Match 1
Dome ending (near where Launch Site is now). Some funny kills by Yashiro with the charge rifle, and Reid had a good rat spot until the end. Gorilla showed off his great survivability near the end but it wasn't enough vs TST.
Match 2
Fragment west ending (near the bridge and construction building). Noah and Sumire win as a duo, Nose eliminated earlier. They basically walk in free until near an end zone after that, then do some gatekeeping to secure their position and take advantage of the chaos in the final ring. Gorilla plays the last rings super well, surviving as duo and then solo until 2nd place with many many low HP moments. There's also some solid Reid jobbing.
Match 3
Thermal ending, near the ziplines up to the north houses. KCK dominated the final zones here. Lots of good Wraith+Rev pushes. There's also a funny moment when Astel kills Qpi (both rats). Also, this match is the one with the infamous moment where Inui forgets to use the Rev totem when pushing TST, which contributes to their lower placement this round despite the best effort of Gori-san to escape and get some placement.
Match 4
Geyser ending. Astel had some good defense here, and Kagami Kira got a funny clutch kill on Matuli. Mescher's basically walks in for free for 3rd place from the tunnel side of Geyser, and their choice of which door to exit basically seals the deal of who gets 1st. Gorilla's team dominates the back side of zone using the respawn beacon as a staging point, but at the end a mistimed totem by Meika and too much pressure from Mescher's inting their direction leads to an easy win by Pakael. It's cool that the tourney result came down to who wins that final fight. Big heartfelt moment from KD3 at the end.
