Dev_Is (which is pronounced DEVICE) is meant to be a sister branch to Hololive. Similar to Holostars. That is why they interacted and were embraced by the Holostars in such a vivid fashion on twitter, as they were being welcomed into the company and it's clear for a while now that Hololive was unhappy with the status the Stars had in the company.
Personally I do not want Stars collabs, but I am fine with them taking advantage of Hololive branding. I personally don't think any of them will actually do any real collabs with the guys after seeing their interactions. Maybe 1 or 2 at best off their own volition, but even then I'd consider it unlikely especially after what the girls talked about on their streams.
Why not debut these girls as JP7? The answer is simple. Hololive is simply too big to actually produce an effective idol experience.
There are 35 HoloJP girls.
9 ID girls.
15 EN girls.
That's a lot of talents to keep track of. It's good that they're in officially separated branches or else it'd be chaos. But the HoloJP main branch has clearly grown to such a degree that managing it can be difficult, especially with setting up groups and organizing talents.
Dev_is will allow Hololive to operate them as their own wing, separate from JP and being their own thing the way EN might be called. But since they are all JP the branding had to be stronger than 'Hololive 2', they needed their own name to attach themselves too. Yes, I think it is stupid, and I think it was handled poorly, but I can understand why they did it. All the dumb rrats are retarded because the girls will interact with the other talents just like ID and EN intermingle freely with all the JP girls.
Hololive only grows stronger.
