People use soul when something is good despite limitations, whether these are technological limitations or the limitations of the person who made the thing.
Despite Fauna clearly not being the best artist in EN if someone said Fauna's drawings were their favourite you could see why, its very charming and "soulful". Similarly people have always called Ame's karaokes "soulful" because she is having an absurd amount of fun, perhaps she is offbeat and singing in the wrong key but you can't help but smile while listening. Shiori on the other hand was just talking while the music played, no soul. It's like trying to claim someone lazily scribbling is soulful, it just simply isnt. There was no passion in Shiori's karaoke.
