Most of SIngapore's infrastructure was introduced by the British empire and maintained after it. Yes, it has long sought to define a postcolonial identity that is unique to itself, but many of its early leaders were European and/or European influenced/trained. Lee Kuan Yew himself went to a British university. Most ministers go to said European universities, with only a few claiming a local university as their point of study. And pic related is David Marshall. If you didn't know better, I would say he was a European man, running the show for a self governed SIngapore at the start.
