It's only illegal when contracts are firmly in place and there is an actual loss of income or profit.
Who lost income? The person who agreed to lose income to go exclusive. Bao lost nothing. She was refunded the cost.
Where lawyers come in is when money is owed or lost. This isn't what happened here at all.
