>>89811625There's a lot of half-finished points being spread so to put it simply: In a lot of SEA areas the vast majority of internet access is done via phones, not PC's. Most ISP's aren't putting data caps on PC's, but mobile providers are putting caps on mobile devices. But mobile internet access comes with plans, and Twitch is not exempt from these data caps, while Youtube is. So the average SEA viewer literally can't afford to watch streams on Twitch because a single day's worth of streams would devour a month's worth of data, while they can watch Youtube 24/7 with no negative impact. The emphasis is on AVERAGE. Yes there are SEA viewers who watch streams on PC rather than mobile, and they can do whatever they want. Michi is literally Indonesian, lives in Indonesia, and watched a lot of Twitch and literally streams on there. But when you look at the the rest of the Indo scene on Twitch you can see just how tiny the market is on that platform.
Conclusion: Yes there are VShojo fans all over the world, including SEA. But a SEA vtuber viewer is significantly more likely to be a Holo watcher simply because they can watch those streams free. Someone pointing to a random one-off Indonesian or Malaysian VShojo fan doesn't change that 95% of the viewers in those areas are watching the streams that don't eat through their data caps, which are Holo streams
Or Niji, or Phase, or anyone else on YT, but Holo is the biggest
