>>93795591potential for future growth. Indonesia is the 4th most populous country in the world, with a young, actually growing population (unlike Japan) (5th by absolute number of births per year), and a quickly growing economy (5% annual gdp growth) and therefore quickly growing richer population.
Unfortunately Indonesia is starting out from an extremely poor base so even if they keep up a blazing fast 5% gdp growthrate and 4% gdp per capita growthrate, that's based on a gdp per capita of $17K so like, it isn't really going to pay off for a very long time. Which makes it kind of a weird choice, but Indonesians are kind of weeby and receptive to Japanese media influence compared to most other options for markets to try and break into so I guess it's a process of elimination thing. It is pretty weird though.
They also share a mutually intelligible language with malaysia which is much smaller but also much richer. So if you have streamers speaking Bahasa technically you're reaching more than just strictly poor indonesians.
Overall though I think it was something interesting to attempt back when nobody really knew what was going to cut through where. And the fact that holoID still exists rather than having to be shut down in shame is something I guess. The median holoID stream in 2024 was about 2k ccv which is honestly really aspirational for a lot of midget corpos, so I guess there's some motivation to throw stuff at the wall
