I too have been with someone who was very reserved and inexperienced, but she still ended up being eager to try out stuff in the end and even taking the initiative in that. She wasn't uncomfortable, just really unsure what to do, and there were a bunch of awkward moments that we just laughed off together.
It's not "hot" in the traditional sense, but just fun and silly.
Overall I'd definitely say that the romanticization of embarrassment in fiction is a lot more appealing than it is in real life though.
