It used to be that most minors had to pretend to be adults. There were a fuckton of kids on the internet even back then(more than we'd like to admit) but they all had to blend in and didn't try to stand out. There was this understanding that kids weren't allowed and anyone who acted suspiciously immature got chased out. If we didn't notice you were a minor, we just didn't care.
Now, kids expect to be accommodated in every online community. They're super vocal about their age and overshare their personal information and political opinions, to a scary degree.
I blame big tech for enabling them and welcoming them onto every major platform with open arms. This is by design because children and teens are prime for getting hooked onto social media and most impressionable towards ads.
