Alright, now that it's the 31st in Japan, time to review *ALL* her 3D lives.
Her first 3D live was just a showcase of her 3D model in different scenarios, it was fine. Merch was cheap and kinda useful: a 3D acrylic stand to look pretty on my nightstand, a tail rubber strap that looks pretty on my bag and a pass case that can barely hold a card properly. Menhera Janaimon was a great track to listen after the live.
Her first birthday live wasn't that good because I missed it. Some singing and most of it was just talking with the rest of gokisei. The handwritten message and the acrylic stand stole the show for me in terms of merch, it was really cute. Also I don't remember what cover or original she released after the live, if anything.
Her first anniversary was the start of the chaos in my opinion, but when Suspect came through it was a banger. ZAIN PLUSHIE MERCH! (I was expecting him to be bigger though, a fat fuck, if you will). And to end, a meme song that still slaps. ぽ was a pretty funny song to close out the live to, even if it was pretty chaotic.
Her second birthday was really good, since it wasn't really about her as an idol but mostly a showcase of Hololive. A "Hololive's greatest hits", if you will. I'd show this live to anyone starting out in Hololive and have them see just a great show. Merch was cute, and the backpack was surprisingly good but it has no use to me. Very fashionable, though. The cover she released after was just a clip from the live, but it was good enough.
Her second anniversary live was her peak up until now. It wasn't even a live or a show, it was the closest we've got to a movie or musical. Even if it was mostly songs she already covered before, she made a great performance (the new original songs were a great touch, too). The merch looks insanely good, the EP looks wild, I want to hang the canvas art in my house already, the bromide set looks cute and I wish I had the happi to cheer to this year's birthday live but sadly I haven't gotten my hands on it. SAIKYOUTICPOLKA was fantastic and the MV was surprisingly good. This was the best day to be a Polka fan, and it was her highest note.
And now, this year's birthday live (her third one!). It was a step down from the previous live (which is understandable, those were some high expectatives) but it was decent nonetheless. Some singing with each guest at the start (with them running on stage for each one, which was cute but didn't seem that organized), a 25 minute variety talk about low-pressure, some group singing, merch shilling and some solo singing. I didn't think much of the merch (even if the illustration looks cute), but now I need the Omaru Troupe (yes, this is the official english name) card for my Omaru-za (this was the previous name apparently) ticket style pass case. THE PERSONA MV WAS GREAT! Even if I originally didn't like the song very much, the MV looks really good.
What are your expectatives for the next 3D Live, anon? It's going to be her 3rd anniversary live (happening on August 16th), and the expectatives from her last one are still very high for me. Any bets on what will be the merch next time around? We already got the tail, just PLEASE LET ME GET A DAKIMAKURA OR SOMETHING.
