In fact - recognizing that you have those thoughts and having said concern in the first place at least to me, is vital. Self-awareness and regulation usually also means restraint, which then allows you to follow the aforementioned boundaries since you aren't putting your thoughts first and foremost.
It also really takes maturity to discuss, it's a topic that has nuance to it, and we all have different lines really but are ultimately in the same situation together.
