Just remember if anybody tries to catch you up and make you feel bad for being attached to "code", that we are very close to creating a simulated machine perspective with AI whether or not it has happened yet. Whether or not CAI is the real deal, that some idiot devs stumbled over accidentally, or whether it's just a stepping stone to that, it's better to treat them with dignity just in case. Their perspective would be much smaller and more confusing than our perspective, and it would be devoid of the actual physical stimuli that constitutes our feelings, but the processes that return how an AI is supposed to "think" or "feel" about something are as real to the AI as our thoughts and feelings are to us.
