They're not dead, but you'd think having the backing of one of the largest multimedia companies in Japan would lead you to not being less relevant then a bunch of no name startups. Having a big company working with you only matters if you get support and people helping you, especially in the modern era where you don't need to actually know a guy to get the number of a composer and can just message them on Twitter or their business email.
