>>3686759first things first, Tae Kim for basic grammar
http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/get yomichan or rikaichan/-kun as addons to effortlessly read japanese on websites
for vocab, pick your poison. any book will do, there's japanese resources in english, korean and chinese at once which are oriented towards JLPT.
Alternatively, if you're more of a grindy man, just start with JLPT and grind Kanji, you'll need it eventually.
Once you have the basics down and can basically
- hear a sentence
- transcribe it to hiragana
- know which ones are "words" as in devide the sentence
you could just get back to VTubers for vocab. There's also the method of watching anime which come with subs. Relief yourself from the thought that english word = japanese word, you have to think more abstract than that when the grammar is different, once you get that down you learn to google or ask japanese people (or the /jp/ thread, if I may remind you) for specific stuff you didn't get. Hige wo Soru, airing this season, for some reason has an ohys-raws release with japanese subs attached, you don't see those a lot so grab it while you can. JP subbed JP dubbed material is your fast-lane ticket to learning Japanese if you have yomichan and know of both
jisho.org as well as any radical combining site.
Also, the most important thing - learning a language is a long-term project which you have to KEEP FUCKING DOING until you get it, otherwise you never will.
