This board was made as a containment board for /jp/ when hololive EN debuted. Most anons there were sick of the growing number of new EN fans and when Kiara brought up a meme from /hlg/, everyone there went ballistic and mods got together to request a new board.
Fun fact: /vt/ is still the newest board on 4chan after 3 years, but we never even got an official announcement on the news blotter at the top of the page because 4chan admins and mods made this board begrudgingly.
