>>39156993>in the same way that recreational sports is not a hobby but the sport is, and the league system is just a vehicle for playing that sport I don't know about ttrpg and vtubing but this one makes no sense.
There's a lot of ways to experience the sport, be that professionally, playing with your friends, participating in locals and school tournaments, watching, and all of them could be considered hobbies, even the players who get paid playing but not well enough to make a living out of it. A lot of players play "professionally" as a side thing and have no desire to be the top % who get a living by playing said sport. You can take a lot of things out of it, be the competitiveness of the sport, the joy of playing, just the act of exercising or being part of the community around it, and the "league system" is just a really tiny part of it.
I feel like a lot of your arguments come from the fact you've never really inserted yourself in something that you really like and sees "hobby" as something to consume and entertain, which is not true. You can inserted yourself in said hobby as much as you're confortable with, the deeper you can the more gratification you can get from it together with a lot of negative feelings, but it's always something you have to at least dip your toes to experience.
