I looked around, hoping to see her under one of the shady trees we'd take refuge under when the sun became too much for either of us. It just reminded me more of how little time had passed and how much my heart still ached.
But, something caught my eye as I circled around the lake itself. The final spot I'd checked, the light wind picked up something small.
Reaching foward, I grabbed it out of the air gently, a single feather, shifting from orange at the base to teal at the tip. I could feel the tears start to form, a light wind picking up, running along my burning cheek. It felt just like her finger woupd, as if she were there trying to wipe away my tears...
