Whether you're aware or not, in traditional manga character design the purpose of accessories was to make characters stand out from one another.
In Japanese society most people look the same on account of being a homogenous culture. And so something as simple as a bandaid or glasses changed the audience's perception of the character. The accessories themselves would then become symbolic of that character's attributes.
Glasses for intelligent characters, a bandaid for either clumsy characters or fighters, etc.
The point is that a single accessory will have more of an impact than a collection.

Okay so your guy has black schlera because he's a demon, but also has to visit the optometerist regularly. And must have scars from fighting because bandaid.
Maybe if he has demonic powers then he doesn't need to see an eye doctor? That's not even mentioning the black horn, which is just random and throws off the design's balance.
