>>80517208only a handful of scenes are really boring artsy narration like that, but there a couple of optional personas that talk this way like esprit de corps and shivers. the vast, vast majority of scenes are normal RPG dialogue that doesn't drag too hard.
several wordy internal dialogue scenes are frontloaded right at the start but they're mercifully sparse throughout the rest of the game. there are a couple of somewhat annoying characters but you can just not talk to them. the only one that's critical is probably the blonde woman, but she's not important until late in the story. the player character can have some really annoying stupid wordy reddit dialogue if you adopt certain views, but they always give you the option to reject them so they don't appear.
overall it's not that bad. some scenes make the game look way worse when cherrypicked but are only a small part of the game. everything else that's overly thesaurusy sludge is skippable, but will probably be infrequent enough that you won't even care. i was apprehensive about it too and you definitely are reading the game's tone correctly, but the game mechanics and open-ended path make up for it. also, the whole game is voiced now so it's not like you have to read.
