A lot of things could've been more than what they currently are, if only content creators didn't have to pander to a specific audience where most of the money comes from and/or they are part of that very audience. Of course, there are exceptions in anime/manga (especially these days), but Sturgeon's Law is just too strong. For every one unique anime/manga that's out this season, it seems that nine other isekai/wish fulfillment stories come out too. I can't help but feel sorry about it sometimes.
