Like if you're fishing at sea you don't have to worry as much about the noise, fish are gonna be too deep to care about anything besides your baited hooks. But let's say you're on a dinghy with one other person, on a river... Then the water is gonna be shallow enough that having a conversation will probably scare them away so you have to pay attention. If you're catfishing the traditional way you and your friends are diving into muddy rivers and wrangling catfish by hand so the noise doesn't really matter as much there...
A lot of guys will bring alcohol fishing both solo and with friends. Just for usual reasons, but also because on a bad fishing day of no catches it make you feel pretty sad so the alcohol can help, hehe
