>>88056819i have wondered this frequently and the best theory i've come up is an inability to develop a cohesive national identity leading to cultural parasitism coupled with massive systematic corruption. basically; the countries were cobbled together from dozens (or hundreds) of different cultures and through heavy decentralization have managed to not balkanize or explode like... the balkans, but because they never invested in nationalistic thought, people are tribalistic in the most literal possible sense of the word and only concerned about the wellbeing of their own clan; which is also the root of corruption. nobody gives a shit about stealing/screwing over their neighbors/countrymen/ANYONE else as long as their own get theirs. this society/lifestyle makes them HARD filter even basic empathy for anyone outside of their inner familial circle. and no culture means no art/media except for extremely local, minor stuff, so they get on the internet and grab what they can from japanese/chinese/california (mostly the latter). the result? an extremely sociopathic, large, and poor population of people who find their way towards the meeting ground of japanese/chinese/californian media. but english is a lot easier to learn, so. here they are.
