>>1547685i looked at some of the competitive rates of other artists who did skeb commissions of the quality that i was looking for, and what the 'industry standard' rate for commercial license use was (it's 2.5x, so if a regular piece of art would run you $100 USD, one with commercial license use would run you $250), and I offered that much compared to their skeb's "Recommended Amount" price (pic related, not my artist, just picked one at random)
i sent them a very short written request with a link to a reference sheet uploaded to imgur. putting together the reference sheet actually took a lot of work because i was trying to put together a commission without using words. so i included things like cropped screenshots of 3 different anime guys with the hair styles i wanted, a stock photo picture of a jacket with a scuffed doodle of what i wanted it to look like, and a stick figure scribble of the pose i wanted. basically trying to convey every aspect of my design without using words.
it took me a couple of hours over 2 days to put together a reference sheet that explained exactly what i wanted without using any words.
