>>35533478Have you ever watched Guran Lagen? although a pretty over-the-top silly mecha anime, it has some nuggets of wisdom sprinkled over it
one of these nuggets is raised near the final villain ark
They are presented with an enemy that sealed away all its race (willingly) into a never-ending VR dream capable of creating any and every scenario to its user
Most don't understand why the villain's race would pick this as their ultimate fate, but the fact is that this scenario is based in one of the many great filters on why we humans never found other sentient beings around space
The theory goes that at some point, civilization will be so advanced that instead of striving to explore space more and finally conquering other planets and even meeting other races, this civilization will willingly isolate itself, into virtual worlds with AI-generated scenarios, because it is not only cheaper to do it, it is also easier and more accessible to the whole population when compared to space pioneering
So you ask, what are we all doing with our lives? we are taking the first step into failing the great filter, we are becoming the anti-spiral race from Guren Lagan
