>>42863189Oh thats a good question. SCUM are turned into trees by forcefully running the forest's blessing/curse through them so that the saplification process takes them over faster than their bodies can adapt, thus killing them by turning all of their biological material into plant cells.
Now the Kind of tree or plant they would grow into would depend on the sapling. If they were older and their body already had an affinity toward growing a certain kind of plant material, thats what they would naturally grow into. If they were younger, or if they had no pre-established affinity, it would be up to the tribe's shaman to pick a species and guide the growth toward that. By default I think most shaman's would go with what they are used to, so they'd probably pick a kind of tree that is more common around their part of the forest.
As for smoking and flavor, I guess you'd either have to specifically ask a shaman to start catering to your particular needs when SCUM need to be put down, or start importing SCUM wood from an /uuu/ forest that already grows things like mesquite, applewood, hickory, etc.
