Is our split's rep awake and here? I have an idea for /who/ that I'd like to offer.
It's an idea I have about the nation's chuubanite, to be specific. How do you feel about the idea of it being a mental stimulant? I guess I should specify: /who/ chuubanite/vitubium, when made into a gas and inhaled by a /who/man (or if it enters the body through any other means), temporarily improves problem-solving skills and potentially other avenues of thought or behavior. For an example of this, maybe they would feel "in control," having impeccable levels of calm and composure even in situations that would normally cause great levels of stress.
I admit I didn't read the rentry on chuubanite as much as I probably should have, but I get the impression that, even if the resource was finite, it would probably help if a reason was given for why not everyone was taking the stuff as much as they could. So, I thought of a way to explain why:
For an extended period of time after the chuubanite wears off, the affected /who/man enters a state colloquially called "brainrot," displaying some of the following traits: bouts of sexual deviancy (or statements indicating a desire to perform such acts or be the recipient of them the nakadashi effect), hallucinations involving The Nameless One, and psychosis, among other possibilities. There would likely be a fear of (and/or possibly established cases of) permanent cases of brainrot brought about by excessive chuubanite use, leading to very controlled use of it.
From this, though, I got the idea to include meds formally into /who/'s lore, though I'm currently unsure of how feasible it would be to implement given the tech level: Meds Project, a formal government research project that involves chemical testing of various substances in an attempt to find something that curbs brainrot's deleterious effects. Naturally, zinc is a commonly-suggested component.
Posting all this here since I don't have anything written up for this idea besides this post. I like the idea of getting basic ideas approved in the host split before moving it over to the project.
