As a rule of thumb, the gore should rest comfortably against you instead of gapping or digging in, the band should feel secure but not leave red indentations after short periods of wear, and there should be little (but preferably none, dependant on cut) spillage from any side of the cup. The most reliable way is to measure yourself with a fabric tape measure. Remember, different countries have different bra sizing too, so make sure if you're using a guide to make sure it's from your country or accounts for it.
I saw your other reply saying that you got measured at VS - sorry, but it's very likely wrong in that case... Try the ABTF calculator that another anon linked!
