I have a family member who used to go to art school, she told me straight that tracing literally teaches you how basic sketching, line creation works. When you know basics, you don't really need to trace, unless you are a person who doesn't understand basics or you have to make specific poses you never made before. Overall, most of the work is being traced more than 90% from other images.
