I guess they're amateurs, because FGO does have a pity system, the problem is it's one of the most deranged pity systems I've ever seen in a game that would cost you literally thousands of dollars before you can make use of it, and don't even dream of trying it as an F2P. What this means is they lowered the requirement for pity to a mere 900 SQ, which is pretty large but a definite improvement. That's roughly how much I try to have saved up before I attempt to pull for someone I really really want anyway, so it works out nicely for me. It means there's no longer that frightening possibility that I might spend that much and actually fail. It hasn't happened yet, but I always worry. Now I only have to worry for... two more years.
