Expending money, time; dealing with their problems when you've got your own already; dealing with Irrationalities of the opposite gender; sharing your belongings you worked hard for, and in the case of a divorce, losing them all. It's all a chore, a burden. I've been in a couple relationships and each and every one, there was no upside beyond the carnal pleasures you speak of. It's why I abandoned the dating life. I treat a relationship only as a way to myself with more excitement involved, and I believe that a random fling could not provide that.
