Material phenomena can serve as tangential evidence towards His existence, but can never thoroughly prove or disprove it. The proof of God is ontological, philosophical, and theological, all things specific to the sapience that He has granted humans and no other animal on this planet.
So no, it’s not too much to ask for material proof of God. It’s not enough, and moreover in the wrong direction.
