Some never evolved out of having dicks, so they do it the normal way
Ducks do it the latter way, but with so much rape the females evolved bent vagina to make it harder and the men evolved corkscrew dicks to get around that. Males without mates will also form rape gangs, where they chase and peck a single female into exhaustion and then gang rape her. Sometimes they do this to other species of duck. Or males. And if the victim dies that still doesn't stop them from copulating.
