>>64761797That's not especially limited to modern horror, but the pattern of quiet + poor visibility game into SUDDEN EARRAPE JUMPSCARE is pretty shitty, yeah. I'm in the "enjoys horror" camp and the Chilla shit or the October shovelware horror was pretty obnoxious even just watching her play it and getting earraped through my own headphones by proxy. It gets a reaction out of the viewer unless they're blind and deaf, but if you're not a screamer, that reaction will probably just be "lol, lmao" or "oh, fuck off".
>I wonder how Biboo would react to one of those?Likely poorly, but less due to the creepy scenario or any fridge horror, and more due to modern horror being a zero-trust genre where the player or viewer expects it to do a super trashy jump scare at any turn.
Mortuary had a rep for being one of the scarier games with less of a focus on jump scares and more on atmosphere, but she went through the entire game with zero trust expecting the body to lunge at her every time she interacted with it and did way more damage to herself than the actual game, then said it was less bad for her than Devour and presumably the shitty janny game afterwards.
