Every emotion is an illusion. The joy I experience while I watch VTuber streams is merely the result of selection mechanisms in my brain reacting to health and mating cues from an attractive member of the opposite sex, urging me to pass my genes while experiencing "love", which will give me an incentive to stick around and protect my offspring
All our drives, ambitions and dreams are byproducts of instinctual mechanisms, from the desire to reproduce or seek power, to base hedonist intentions such as the quest for dopamine of junkies, hijacking their brain's reward system until it fries solid.
Human values are essentially meaningless, a chaotic abnormality brought on by evolution, as our instincts and social structure led us to thrive.
Consciousness is a passenger, a mere commenting observer, if not an outright slave to the id. But even the instinctual master obeys natural laws, is dictated by them. The universe is a hologram, every event is predetermined. Nothing matters.
Yet one thing eludes me: my own existence. Why did I have to be conscious throughout it all?
