For AIDS, it is mainly the later stage of HIV, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus, which in itself damages the human body, debilitating the body affecting mainly the CD4 cells, which are the essentials for the immune system.
It is why it can be easily detected compared to CVID, which doesn't debilitate the body, the body may have a lack of CD4 cells but has a severe lack of immunoglobulins, which are the markers that basically help the immune system to detect pathogens.
