>>59556335I wasn't expecting a lot desu, gareth edwards has never made a movie that I consider good. It distracted me for a couple hours, it served its purpose, I will forget everything about it aside from how forgettable it is within a week.
>>59556532I just really want something where it feels like a complete world that someone put a lot of thought into, and it really seems like a lot of directors don't give a shit about the details. I loved 2049 and I really enjoyed Dune even if that's more science fantasy. Ex Machina was fun, Annihilation was great, I even enjoyed objective trash like Fast Xs worldbuilding. Ironically the fast and furious franchise has some of the most entertaining worldbuilding of any modern multi film series because it's so incredibly saturated and braindead. All around the world there are secret caves and bunkers and they're all filled with supercars, and cyborgs are real, and the US government has a branch specifically to deal with the fast and furious cast. It's hilarious and never deviates so it ends up drawing me into the world more than something like The Creator just because it it has no moral lesson to cloud the constant barrage of bullshit. Even something like Upgrade feels like a more fleshed out world than The Creator, and that film has a newspaper thin script. Hollywood just needs to make a live action Heavy Object with all the insane lore intact and scifi fans would turn it into a billion dollar flick. Give it to Micheal Bay, fuck it.
