>>87320991I'd also recommend an eSim if your phone supports it, I got like 3GB data for around $8 bucks last time I was in Japan, you can get like 10GB for 30 days for something like $20, which is cheaper than most pocket wifi or even domestic sim cards. Japan doesn't have a ton of wifi all over the place, but if you're just using it for maps and doing any data back on your hotel wifi, you'll be fine.
I've heard you can get a personalized Suica from machines nowadays to cut down on blank exchangeable ones, but you need to use a domestic JP phone number for registration I.E your hotel's #, in case you lose it. You can also apparently go to big stations like Shinagawa, Tokyo, Ikebukuro, and get Suica from the JR travel desks.
I also recommend going to a Don Quixote or Grocer over a Konbini if possible, because you'll pay something like 10-15% less for common food and drinks like onigiri and canned alcohol. A large Strong Zero was like 220 yen after tax per can in a Konbini, while it was like 180 in a Donki.
