In fact Nijisanji has been far less assholish about this, and doesn't have the same "closed door" policy to off-company collabs. Although admittedly they've gotten a bit more managerial in recent times, it's nothing like the "Great Hololive Firewall".
Hololive's primary tactic is to keep people on their own plantation, by never collabing with, mentioning, or acknowledging the existence of other vtubers outside of hololive. They use their brigades on 4chan to reinforce this. They're terrified that if all of these English speaking vtuber fans realized there was a huge world of English speaking vtubers outside of Hololive, they'd lose a lot of people. And they're right. We should be working to undermine this control they have on the vtuber market, not propping it up.
