Earlier today, I went to the kitchen to make a sandwich. My mother was listening to the radio while cooking and Ghost was on. I was quite surprised to hear it in my tiny little country on the other side of the world. After the song ended, the host talked a bit about how it reached the charts in Japan, and how he found it interesting because here musicians were mostly complaining that corona had caused everything to be cancelled, but in Japan they had been doing virtual concerts and moved to talking about how Suisei in particular does a karaoke, called utawaku in Japanese, at least once a month. He then proceeded to play his favourite karaoke of hers. I tarried making my sandwich, wanting to hear which song he'd choose.
Turned out, he was playing multiple songs, and I kept up coming with reasons to stay in the kitchen before figuring out he was going to play the entire stream. I think it was one of the late summer early autumn utawakus from last year. However, at around 30 or 40 minute mark I was finally completely out of excuses and had to head back to my room. At any rate, I was pretty excited to come tell this thread that Suisei is getting radio play on the other side of the world, so I loaded all the snacks I had pretended I needed to the cart and proceeded down the aisle to the check-out.
The cashier greeted me with the kind of German you get only by isolating a bunch of Austrians in a mountain valley for a couple of centuries. It took some while and my mum to get past the language barrier. During that, I found the time to both bemoan it wasn't my native country Suisei is getting airtime on, but also be happy, because Germany is after all a way bigger market. Long story short, I finally got past the cashier, found out the border between Baden-Württemberg and Alabama was at the grocery store door, was amazed at the destitution and rampant incest on the streets of southern US, ran across a friend who borrowed me a car to get back to the first world, died in a car crash because I forgot breaks are a thing, shot up a few people, tried driving again a couple of times and crashed again before waking up.
