That is really something that is down to youtube reasons not the codecs themself.

That was not about the starting point but about the duration of the webm being too long for the size of the crop. It's pretty rare that you can just use an almost 30sec long piece without having to downsize things a bit, the 4mb limit can be pretty brutal at times.
