Alright since it's been a hot topic of discussion all day and I did not see a concise breakdown on it, I watched Coqui's Announcement stream about 3am. Here is the notes I took:
>Describes 3am as a psuedo-corp. They retain the rights to their characters and IPs and Management does not control what the talents choose to do with their streams and content. Talent are allowed to walk from the group at any time for any reason so they are not handcuffed if things aren't working out.
>100% of streaming earnings will go to the talents and the agency will only be taking cuts from events/brand deals they help set up as well as any merch they help set up
>There is a confirmed Manager/Owner of the group and there is a decent sized non-streaming staff who will be helping the girls with things. Coqui stated multiple times that she is not the owner/manager and neither is Meat.
>Meat and Coqui will be keeping their own communities in the Southside Discord and have no intention of moving them. 3am will have a discord but it will just be for company related discussion/announcements, other members will likely keep their own discords as well.
>In relation to the last point, over the course of the stream pretty much multiple members of the southside stopped in to show support, including Krimbo, Neslon, Lonestar Colt, Tomakeys, and Icy
>The Southside Merch store that Coqui has ran by herself will be shut down after the current merch is liquidated and 3am will be handling merch related stuff for her and Meat going forward. This is not surprising news as Coqui has had tons of merch production nightmares and was more or less stuck doing everything herself on this front.
>The talents that have decided to help form the first wave of the group did so because they were consistently getting denied Merch, sponsors and events because many brands now do not want to do business with streamers who do not have some sort of representation/organization attached.
>Coqui says this is the planned first wave and there will be future auditions and talent add ons. She strongly implied this first group will be female only and said "it's up to management" if male vtubers join in the future.
>Talents will be announced every other day however there will be a day with an additional 3am announcement soon, likely tomorrow.
>The launch day will have everyone doing a soft debut, rallying into each other and leading into a group collab.
In summary: This is reading like it is similar to Astraline where there is a financial backer (in Astraline's case it's Merry). The fact that the girls are in full control and are able to walk at any time is what's mostly keeping it from being Vshojo 2.0 (Vshojo despite the talent freedom are hard locked into contracts). For now I'd say they should be treated in the Astraline/VIchiban category, but depending on how large they get it has the potential that fans of the group may want to consider opening a secondary General line /shon/ or /nina/ once we have a full roster.
