watched a hawk swoop into a squirrel nest in my pecan tree today. he had trouble recovering flight and almost fell to the ground but managed to correct itself and flew on his merry way. don't know if there was anything in the nest through cause its a few years old and there wasn't anything distinctly squirrely in its claws that i could see. but i guess that explains the half squirrel carcass i found out there a couple weeks ago.
