Your one job is to not break immersion and maintain kayfabe. "crutch-kicking" is the perfect word for what this behavior is. I'm not sure there is a consumer base more abused than vtuber fans.
Like imagine going to a massage therapist and the massage therapist goes "we aren't here for you to be dependent on us" and just takes your money and then kicks you out. It's so fucking bizarre, and I hate to use the word but it's actually entitled.
