>>89081823Fuck it I'm bored so I'll bite. I can only really comment on the english gaming end of vtubing compared to the rest of the rest since I've been watching gaming streams since the days of
Livestream.com.
So if we're talking about corpo number faggotry I think it's a case of bad formula that hasn't gotten a good "breakout" to create a strong growing feedback loop. So firstly you're stuck with a niche audiences of mostly weebs and otakus. With Luxiem's breakout you had the yumes as a breakout audience everyone tried to capture but that was a fickle fad audience so it was short lived. Despite that corpos and indies keep trying to catch that dwindling base and it doesn't resonate well with your traditional "brotuber" audience.
Second, non-vtuber creators near universally do better streaming on twitch than they do on Youtube. MoistCritical pulls better numbers on Twitch than Youtube when multicasting despite abandoning Twitch for Youtube streaming for a while. It really is a meme unless you're in a massive anomaly. Any male streamer trapped on youtube is getting all the cons of the walled garden with none of the positives.
Third, which I would argue is the biggest reason, currently male vtubers aren't large enough to create streaming metas. They are slaved to the regular streaming meta, which means if you're a EN branch JP corpo you're constantly weeks behind fleshtubers on relevancy which only gets worse when the creators take months to finish games, if they do. This also gets worse since you're cucked out of mods for games, which is a huge part of regular EN streaming meta. For an example of both of these, LIRIK went from around 4view peak 30-60k CCV by being ahead of the curve with The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls, putting him at the top of the streaming game at the time. He then would go on to have 20-30k CCV watching him play jank ass shitty ARMA 3 rp daily afterwards. Summit1g blew up into an early 5view by streaming fuckloads Dayz during the jank ARMA2 modding days that momentumed with his counter strike experience when CS:GO became big. Both of them have shrunk since then due to becoming lazy millionaires but the point stands.
Honestly I think you could have a large western male vtuber. A number of larger gaming Youtubers use floating character PNGs like Kermit the Frog in their videos and streams to represent themselves. That fag Dream had a virtual avatar, played minecraft, did gay original music, and had a legion of teenage yumes, basically a live2d and consistent streaming away from a Niji
:^). Jokes aside, I hold that a good formula that lands with western audiences just hasn't broken out yet, and I don't believe it ever will within the confines JP corpo legal autism.
