>>92285762holy shit, anon. you're the only other human being i've ever seen that has talked about having the exact same thing i've had. i'm 99.9% certain i've talked about it in this thread too but i can't find my post on the archives.
but yes, i've had the exact same condition you described, lower pitched, distorted sound from one ear, and lower/bass tones are straight up impossible to hear. one time i even made an mp3 to describe it to other people because i make music and so it was actively hindering with my activities. it's very annoying, and it was really worrying at first for me, but one thing i can tell you for sure is that it's not permanent. however, for the life of me i can't pinpoint the cause, and the one time i went to a doctor they said "nah your ear is perfectly fine! now go away". it tended to last a few weeks on average, until it either gradually fixed itself, or i would randomly hear a very soft and high pitched ringing in my ear for a few seconds and suddenly i was hearing properly again. last time i had it was almost 2 years ago, and that one lasted me for like 3 months.
my best guess was stress, since the only thing i could find that was recurrent everytime it came back was me being under a lot of pressure due to college and money issues. but other than that, i couldn't find either a reliable way to make it go away, or to prevent it. if you come back from your appointment, i'd genuinely appreciate it if you could relay what the doctor tells you because i'd love to know what even causes it and the doctors i've gone to have been utter shit. but rest assured it's not permanent and you'll be fine and hearing properly again eventually.
