In pre-chat, due to the sheer amount of people, there's no way for anyone to be able to identify each other at all, and the greetings are either fake etiquette or fishing for hellos back to feel good about themselves.
In here, it's 4chan, every Tako is anonymous so there's no need to say hello or goodbye. However, Takos do do that when they notice the characteristic of a tako they have seen before, such as takobro, bathtako, dope poster, or even flap remover. The greetings, in their strange forms, are tailored to each of them differently and as such more genuine than the generic types.
As for the group of friends, its a mix of both
