I think sometimes Kiara is at peace and ready to move to the next life and welcomes the beautiful sight at the end, and others she feels she has something left to do and she will fight tooth and nail to beat back the Reaper. Even though death always wins, eventually.
Their meetings used to only be as Kiara's time came, but as they grew closer then Mori decided to see why Kiara loved life so much and started to explore the active human world a little more. Giving them more regular encounters and even what Kiara would call dates.
